eipThey say that nothing is certain in life except death and taxes, and we are the poorer for it, but looking on the bright side, some things never go out of fashion, and London is one of those things. Entertainment, leisure, bread and circuses, call it what you will, is another. That is why Enterprise Investment Partners (EIP) have high hopes as they prepare to launch The Enterprise Network next Tuesday at Nabarro’s offices at 125 London Wall. A limited number of places are still available; http://www.enterprise-ip.com/the-enterprise-network-events/

The aim of TEN is to connect investors with high quality opportunities to invest in Leisure and Hospitality companies with a focus on central London. EIP has put together an advisory team with a more than enviable track record of delivering investment opportunity alongside excellent service management.

Robin Sheppard, for example, who became General Manager of Bodysgallen Hall at the age of 27, helping to reinforce its reputation as the best Hotel in Wales, before taking charge at The Lygon Arms, the Royal Berkshire, and Bath Spa hotels, has been awarded the Hotel of The Year award by both the RAC and the Caterer and Hotelkeeper. Having joined forces with Haydn, his Bespoke Hotel Group has been expanding its customer base and pooling the skills of its members to create an exciting and ambitious project that is destined to go places.

Paul Clark: is the former head of Richard Branson’s Virgin Hotels and De Vere Hotels, and currently Director of Luxury Family Hotels and CEO of Palladian Hotels and Resorts. His broad experience includes the buy-out of hotels and acquisition of leisure companies, and as the head of an international hotels group he is planning to make acquisitions in the luxury hotels industry in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

John Finnemore: at Nabbaro, a corporate finance and venture capital expert who is part of the Entrepreneurs Group at Nabarro, providing legal advice to start-up companies and founders across sectors which include the Leisure and Hospitality industry.

Matthew Wyatt and Joseph Lennon, both Certified Chartered Accountants working at Wellers Accountants, and focused on providing strategic tax advice with regard to Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme investments, complete the team, not forgetting, of course, Jeri Dutz and Matt Lenzie, of EIP, who handle the business strategy and marketing side of the network.

The launch will begin with a reception and a chance to network with other club members, plus the TEN team, followed by a presentation at 6pm and drinks and canapes from 6.30pm. Please RSVP to Jeri Dutz at EIP, jdutz@enterprise-ip.com, 0207 487 8351.

Why TEN?

eip2Besides the obvious fact that London is one of the world’s top tourist destinations, accounting for 53% of all international spending in the UK, with 16.8m visitors from overseas in 2013 alone, that Londoners are a young demographic, 62% aged under 44, where 18-34 year olds are 51% more likely to be out and about than the population average, and that this a market that is growing all the time, where diners eat out 3.7 times each week compared to 2.2 times just 2 years ago, TEN is an opportunity to review the best opportunities and deals in the hospitality and leisure spaces, vetted by experts, before anybody else.

EIP’s mantra is “quality not quantity”, therefore the only opportunities that will be presented to members will demonstrate high growth potential, be tax efficient in nature, and will be prepared exclusively with members in mind. TEN is free to join, there is no membership fee, instead EIP will earn a fee from investee companies upon successfully completing an investment, enjoy a success fee if certain hurdle rates are achieved, and be remunerated as non-executive members of the investee company as appropriate. All the fees are transparent and disclosed within the business plans or investment memorandum.

EIP is justifiably proud of the strength of its deal flow but always works to strict guidelines in order to ensure only the best deals are presented to its clients.

  • Asset backed trades are usually given priority due to their secure nature. If the business model fails then the asset acts as a protection against losses;
  • By working alongside serial leisure industry entrepreneurs EIP ensures it is taking the best advice and sourcing deals first;
  • The growth targeted will typically be a minimum of 15-20% IRR p.a. although this represents a conservative estimate and potentially returns could be significantly higher;
  • EIP looks to utilise tax efficient schemes wherever possible which secures substantial savings for its HNW clients as well as providing excellent opportunities for young businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive and grow successfully;

ten network 3TEN plan to hold regular events throughout the year reflecting their intention to consistently supply club members with high quality investment opportunities. Trust us when we say EIP events are convivial affairs, where anybody is approachable and egos are left at the door. All you need to have to enjoy an EIP event or TEN club membership is a sense of adventure, an open mind and a desire to make a contribution to London’s growth and development.

Tax can be a pain, but leisure is a pleasure, so why not take responsibility for deciding where your money goes, and let the TEN network guide you towards the right opportunities. You’re welcome!
