100 Courses in 1,000 Minutes – London’s Longest Dinner Party Coming To Wandsworth Tomorrow Courtesy Of La Belle Assiette!

A Private chef dining experience is something many discerning Londoners love; it’s the perfect way to impress your guests with beautifully presented, heavenly tasting culinary treats – and of course it’s up to you if you tell your guests who did the cooking!

Tomorrow, La Belle Assiette, a Paris based based start-up founded by CEO Stephen Leguillon and Giorgio Riccò that offers Private Chef Dining, Catering Delivery and Event Catering are taking the concept a stage further.

Yes, the dinner party of the year is here – beginning at breakfast, 9am on the dot, La Belle Assiette is throwing “London’s longest dinner party”, during which a “crack team of experienced private chefs” will be serving up, count them, 100 dishes in just under 17 hours – or 1,000 minutes precisely, to satisfy 100 foodie Londoners’ palettes.

The feast takes place at Venturi’s Table Cookery School near Wandsworth, starting at 9am and finishing at 1.40 am Sunday morning.

It all kicks off with a champagne breakfast – every course and dish has been specifically designed to pair perfectly with Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne – so lucky diners will be embarking upon, as the event blurb puts it, “a true culinary adventure with a touch of sparkle”.

The co-founders will be there too – both Stephen and Giorgio will be manfully attempting to eat every dish on offer – a noble, not to mention lip-smacking sacrifice indeed!

Guests are invited to join them in sampling the full century of courses, or stay for just 1.5 hours and enjoy 9 courses – with champagne, natch.

The chefs themselves, we are assured, will be “sautéing, frying, blanching, boiling, sous viding, blending, piping, plating and serving continuously for 1,000 minutes!”

The idea is the brainchild of Millie Ashbee, who looks after the start-ups’ marketing in the UK, with a remit to get the UK as excited as possible about private chef dining – not just London – with Belle Assiette you can book your ideal chef and menu anywhere from Brighton to Balmoral, using the disruptive tech platform the technical team has cooked up.

La Belle Assiette is now available in 6 countries and has 550 registered chefs – impressive growth from a company that was only founded back in 2012.

The founders, who met at ESCP Europe, were inspired by the rise of the sharing economy and platforms such as Airbnb and Uber – and decided it would translate perfectly to the on-demand private chef market – a recipe for success, no less (no more puns now! Ed). The company has since raised nearly $4m across 3 rounds of investment through a mixture of angels and VCs including Kima Ventures.

Once a user has browsed the menu and booked their favourite chef, the chef makes his or her way to their host’s kitchen, bringing all of their own utensils and ingredients and proceeds to “cook up a storm” – and for some, the best part is, they clear the table and do the washing and cleaning too! There are more than 3,000 menus to choose from, and a concierge option to help you decide which one is right for you and your guests. So far, more than 1.3m dishes have been served up in people’s homes thanks to the platform.

Users can search menus using price filters, type of event, cuisine, occasion and cooking style – all the chefs on the platform have their own profile, featuring a biography, and customer reviews.

Menu’s range in price from the “Temptation”, £35-45, “Prestige”, £55-65, or go for the full “Signature”, at £90 pounds plus.

Taste buds tingling yet? Tickets for tomorrow are available here – but hurry – there’s only 18 hours to go – before 1000 minutes of champagne and haute-cuisine madness.

A course every 10 minutes for 16 hours – personally, we like those odds!
